About GuessName
GuessName is a free game for guessing the countries of the world — from their flag, their map outline, or their capital city. It's a single hub for all three, plus a daily challenge, with no sign-up and nothing saved.
Why it exists
Most flag quizzes only do flags, gate you after one round, or push you to register. GuessName keeps it simple: open it, play a round, share your score grid, come back tomorrow. It's built for the way people actually learn geography — short, repeatable, shareable.
Where the data comes from
- Flags — the open-source flag-icons set (MIT licensed).
- Country outlines — Natural Earth, which is in the public domain.
- Country names & capitals — the public-domain world-countries dataset.
Everything runs in your browser. There's no external API call while you play, no account, and no analytics that follow you around. GuessName is ad-supported so it can stay free.
Not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any country, government or organisation. Found a mistake in the data? It comes from the open sources above — corrections there flow through to the game.
