How to guess the city

Start with any city you like — even a wild guess is information. Each guess shows how many kilometres you are from the mystery city, an arrow pointing toward it, and a proximity percentage. Guess Paris and see “8,000 km ↘️”? Head south-east. Triangulate like that and most cities fall in three or four guesses.

Wrong guesses also reveal clues in order: the continent, the metro population, the country's flag, the city's first letter and finally the country itself. Six wrong guesses and the city is revealed — there's always tomorrow's.

Daily city vs unlimited

The daily city is identical for everyone and changes at midnight UTC — share your 🟩🟨⬜ grid and compare with friends, Wordle-style. Your progress and win streak are saved in your browser, so keep the run going. Want more? Switch to unlimited mode for a random city every round — and if one truly stumps you, reveal the answer and move on. Distances show in kilometres by default; tap the km badge on the game to switch to miles.

When you're done with cities, the rest of the hub works the same way for countries: guess the country from its flag, from its map outline or from its capital city, or take the mixed daily challenge.

How do you play Guess the City?
Type any city to start. After each guess you're told how far away the mystery city is, an arrow points in its direction, and a percentage shows how close you are. Wrong guesses also unlock clues — continent, population, country flag and more. You have six tries to name the city.
Is there a new city every day?
Yes — the daily city is the same for every player and resets at midnight UTC, so scores are comparable and you can share your emoji grid. Your progress and win streak are remembered between visits, and there is also an unlimited mode with a random city every round.
Which cities are in the game?
209+ major world cities across 6 continents — including 109 national capitals — from Tokyo and Lagos to Reykjavik and Buenos Aires. All data is public-domain and the game runs entirely in your browser.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Completely free, no sign-up, no account. Your streak and stats are stored only in your browser — nothing leaves your device.
